STELLENBOSCH FLYING CLUB

Established in 1973, the Stellenbosch Flying Club is located amongst the picturesque mountains and vineyards of the Cape Winelands. They are proudly one of the most beautiful airfields in the world. Stellenbosch Flying Club is popular among aviators and aviation enthusiasts from all walks of life. Their Club is a traditional flying club, where our core focus is to provide a home for the recreational and aspirant aviator, and promote General Aviation. 

The Stellenbosch Airfield is also home to the Stellenbosch Flight Training Centre. A well-established facility that offers training from PPL to ATPL, and everything in between! This is possibly the most beautiful flight training school in the Western Cape! Stop by, bring the kids, and come relax on the grass at our Restaurant for lunch with a view.

DIEMERSSKRAAL AIRFIELD

Diemerskraal is a farm between Wellington and Malmesbury on the R45 that features a variety of things to do, see and use, especially if you love flying. We have a well maintained gravel airfield, fuel for your aircraft and host an AMO and Two Oceans Skydiving. There is a limited amount of hangers to keep your beloved aircraft in a safe and secure space in our beautiful Winelands. Avgas and JetA1 is now available on Diemerskraal Airfield. You are welcome to fill up here. Diemerskraal is roughly an hour’s drive from Cape Town and offer the unique combination of a working farm environment and a small aviation hub. We have hosted local and international filming crews with a couple of exciting projects in the pipeline.

CAPE WINELANDS AIRPORT

Did you know that Cape Winelands Airport is 80 years old? This Grand Old Lady, as she is effectively called, is getting ready to be fully transformed. Built in 1943, this grand old lady has a proud history, having served as an operational base for the South African Air Force. The airport was home to Lockheed Ventura bombers during the tumultuous era of World War 2. 1960 emerged as a crowning moment in the airfield’s history, as it proudly took centre stage as the distinguished host of the esteemed Free Flight and Control Line Nationals. A highlight on the calendars of aviators. Originally known as Fisanterkraal Airport, she was renamed Cape Winelands Airport in 2020. Located in the Northern District of the City, there are exciting plans to expand the airport. We promise to continue to share information about our exciting development plans as they progress.
